Nothing like a Cat 5 hurricane hurling your way to make you self reflective.

Let me start off by saying we are relieved that many of our friends and clients in both Florida and Texas escaped with somewhat minimal damage.

That said, I couldn’t help but draw the same feeling that a storm is upon us with the current state of media.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a buyer or seller; like a hurricane, you can just feel this storm is coming, and you’d better be prepared.

Here are 3 steps you can take to be “storm ready.”

  1. Cut through the hype and find the facts.

Nothing creates chaos like a bunch of people running around screaming that the sky is falling, or in this case screaming that the bottom is falling out of traditional media.

In our opinion, many of the mass media mediums still have plenty of relevancy and probably will for some time in one shape or another.  People aren’t going to stop driving their cars and looking at billboards.

  1. Educate yourself on what you’re

The more you understand a potential adversity, the better you can build support around it. That said don’t be foolish enough to think you can just by hunker down and outlast this storm – you can’t. Digital media is here to stay, and will continue to evolve in different ways, so incorporate it into your media strategy!

  1. Have a plan and execute it.

There’s a reason they are called “the good old days” – many in the industry don’t relish change. But the sooner you develop a plan to educate yourself on what digital media is and how it impacts your industry, the more you’ll be prepared for the storm. As a result, the more your clients will view you with a level of expertise!

If you’ve made it this far you’ve taken a great first step!
